Babu’s Camp Mkomazi is an intimate
luxurous tented camp in the newly gazetted Mkomazi Game Reserve
in North Eastern Tanzania. It is the first and only permanent
tented camp in this Reserve and the only facility that offers
accommodation for tourists inside the park. Mkomazi has only
few visitors a year, making Babu’s Camp the ideal destination
for those discerning guests who prefer the experience of peace
and solitude while enjoying the parks beauty and wildlife.
Accommodation is in only 5 large,
walk-in luxury safari tents. The tents are each measuring
10m long and comfortably furnished with wooden bed, wardrobe,
changing area, safari chairs and a writing desk. Each tent
has an own ensuite bathroom with flush toilets
and an open air hot showers.
The dining
tent offers ample seating inside and out on its verandahs
as well as a well equipped bar.
Electricity is provided by a silenced
generator (220 Volt, 07:00-09:00 and 18:30-23:00 daily), which
provides lighting throughout the camp and in the tents.
As a traditional safari camp, there
is no email or phone communication for guests. The camp is
equipped with an HF radio in the event of an emergency.
Walking Safaris and Night Game
Drives can be arranged upon request with advanced
notice.

Mkomazi National Park
The newly gazetted National Park Mkomazi
covers an area of 3,700 sq. km, bordering the Tsavo National
Park in Kenya. There is a wide variety of flora and fauna
with 78 species of mammals including elephant, kudu, hartebeest,
giraffe and aardwolf. Endangered African wild dog and black
rhino have been introduced to Mkomazi with the aid of the
George Adamson/Tony Fitzjohn African Wildlife Preservation
Trust.
There are approximately 450 recorded
species of birds in Mkomazi, making it a birdwatcher’s
paradise.
